What photo metadata can reveal
Phones and cameras write EXIF data into every photo. Besides harmless settings like shutter speed and ISO, it can include the exact GPS coordinates where the photo was taken, the date and time, the phone model, the owner name and even the camera serial number. Many messaging apps strip this, but email, cloud links and many websites pass the original file on unchanged.
This viewer also reports XMP and IPTC blocks added by editing software, comments, PNG text fields, Content Credentials and the embedded thumbnail, which can still show the uncropped original after you crop a photo.
GPS location shown clearly
When a photo has coordinates you see them at the top in a red warning, with altitude and time when present. Buttons copy the coordinates or open them in OpenStreetMap or Google Maps. No map is loaded automatically, so your location is not sent anywhere unless you click a link.
Remove it in one click
For JPG, PNG and WebP the Remove metadata and download button saves a clean copy without re-compressing the image, so quality is untouched. Rotation and color profile are kept so the photo still looks the same. To clean many photos at once, or HEIC files, use the Remove EXIF tool.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a photo has my location in it?
Drop it here. If GPS data exists, a red box shows the coordinates at the top of the results.
Can I see EXIF data from iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. The viewer reads EXIF from HEIC files, including the GPS location. A preview may not show in browsers that cannot display HEIC.
Why does my screenshot show no metadata?
Screenshots and images saved by most apps or downloaded from social networks usually contain no EXIF data.
Is the photo uploaded to read the metadata?
No. The file is read by code running in your browser and never leaves your device.
How do I remove the metadata?
Click Remove metadata and download for JPG, PNG and WebP, or open the Remove EXIF tool to clean many photos at once.
