How to use Rotate & Flip Image

  1. 1Drop one or more images, or paste one with Ctrl+V.
  2. 2Use Left, Right, 180°, Flip horizontal and Flip vertical. The preview updates instantly.
  3. 3To fix a tilt, move the Straighten slider, then choose Crop edges or Keep everything.
  4. 4Click Download for a single image, or Apply to all to process a batch and download a ZIP.

Straightening tilted photos

The Straighten slider rotates by any angle from -45 to 45 degrees in half degree steps. With Crop edges, the tool trims the result to the largest rectangle with no empty corners, which is what you want for horizons and buildings. With Keep everything, the canvas grows so nothing is cut off, and the corners are filled with a color or left transparent.

Batch rotation

Add several images and the same rotation and flip are applied to each one. This is useful for a set of scans or photos that all came out sideways. Each output keeps its original format unless you choose JPG, PNG or WebP.

Notes

Your browser applies the camera's orientation tag when opening the image, so what you see is what gets saved, and the saved file no longer depends on that tag. Rotating by 90 degree steps does not lose pixels. Saving as JPG re-encodes the image at high quality.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my photo look sideways on some sites?

Phones often store a rotation tag instead of rotating the pixels. Some sites ignore the tag. Saving the image here writes the pixels in the correct orientation.

What is the difference between flip and rotate?

Rotate turns the image around its center. Flip makes a mirror image, for example to undo the mirrored look of a front camera selfie.

Can I rotate many images at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 images and click Apply to all, then download everything as a ZIP.

Is quality lost when rotating?

Rotating by 90 or 180 degrees keeps every pixel. Fine-angle straightening resamples the image, which is normal for any editor.

Are my images uploaded?

No, rotation and flipping happen in your browser.
