How to use PDF Metadata Editor
- 1Add your PDF. Its current properties load automatically.
- 2Edit the title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer or dates.
- 3Leave Show the title in the window switched on if readers should display the title instead of the file name.
- 4Click Save changes, or Remove all metadata for a clean copy, then download.
Why metadata matters
PDF properties travel with the file. The author field often contains a full name or company account, and the creator field reveals the software used. Search engines also use the title when indexing PDFs on a website, so a clear title helps your documents appear correctly in results.
XMP metadata is handled too
Many PDFs store a second copy of the properties as XMP data, which some readers prefer. If you only changed the basic fields, those readers would keep showing the old values. When you save, this tool removes the outdated XMP block so every reader shows what you entered. Remove all metadata clears both the basic fields and XMP.
Content stays untouched
Only document properties change. Pages, text and images are not modified. Everything runs in your browser, and an encrypted PDF can be opened with its password; the saved copy is not encrypted.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove the author name from a PDF?
Clear the Author field and save, or click Remove all metadata to wipe every property at once.
Why does my PDF still show the old title?
The old title was probably stored in XMP metadata. Saving here removes that copy, so readers show the new title.
Does editing metadata change the content?
No. Only the document properties change.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and saved entirely in your browser.
